A warm and busy family in the Logan Circle, Washington, DC is seeking a proactive and energetic Full-Time Housekeeper / Family Assistant to help care for their home and support their day-to-day household needs. The family consists of two parents and two daughters, ages 10 and 11. They are currently a pet-free household.
The family lives in a beautiful five-story, approximately 6,700-square-foot home with a rooftop garden. They are naturally very clean and tidy and are looking for someone who takes pride in maintaining a beautifully organized home. Rather than attempting to deep clean the entire residence each day, the family prefers a thoughtful routine with daily upkeep throughout the home and a more detailed focus on approximately one floor each day.
Daily responsibilities will include general household cleaning and organization, family laundry, dishes, grocery shopping, errands, and ensuring the home remains tidy and running smoothly. The ideal candidate is someone who can walk into the home, recognize what needs to be done, and take ownership of their day without requiring a detailed task list.
The family does much of their own cooking, so extensive cooking is not required. However, someone comfortable assisting with occasional light meal preparation, ingredient prep, and preparing simple foods for the children would be helpful. One of the children follows a gluten-free and dairy-free diet, so familiarity with dietary restrictions or a willingness to learn is important.
The family travels frequently, making packing and unpacking an important part of the position. Someone who is highly organized and comfortable preparing the family for travel, assisting with luggage, unpacking upon their return, and getting the household reset afterward would be a tremendous asset.
The children generally have established transportation for school and activities; however, there may occasionally be times when the Family Assistant is asked to assist with a pickup or transportation if the family's regular arrangements are unavailable. Some schedule flexibility may therefore be needed, particularly around Thursday afternoon activities. The candidate should be comfortable navigating and driving within the area.
The ideal person for this family is bright, upbeat, smart, energetic, and easygoing. They are looking for someone who thinks ahead and anticipates potential headaches or roadblocks before they become problems. This person should genuinely enjoy creating solutions, staying one step ahead, and making the family's everyday life easier.
